Mazda Organizational and Personnel Changes

Tokyo, July 1, 2009; Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the following organizational and personnel changes, effective July 1, 2009.

1. Organizational Changes
(1) Changes in the area of R&D technical administration

Goals
- To consolidate planning functions related to R&D operations and enable more strategic and agile initiatives.
- To consolidate administrative functions related to R&D operations, enhance operational efficiency and strengthen activities to support related departments.

Details of the organizational changes

- The R&D Planning Dept. has been newly established. Planning functions related to R&D operations of the MDI & MPDS Planning & Development Dept. and the R&D Planning & Administration Dept. have been transferred to it.
- The R&D Administration Dept. has been newly established. Administrative functions related to R&D operations of the MDI & MPDS Planning & Development Dept. and the R&D Planning & Administration Dept. have been transferred to it.
- In line with the above changes, the MDI & MPDS Planning & Development Dept. and the R&D Planning & Administration Dept. have been eliminated.

(2) Changes in the area of purchasing

Goals
- To maximize synergies and streamline purchasing activities by consolidating planning functions for all vehicle model lines within a single department. This change is in accordance with Monotsukuri Innovation and Integrated Planning.
- To improve Mazda's ability to meet suppliers' needs by transferring technical support functions for suppliers to the Production Engineering Division.

Details of the organizational changes
- The Cross Carline Purchasing Strategy Dept. has been integrated into the Purchasing Program Coordination Dept. The Purchasing Program Coordination Dept. has been reorganized.
- Production technology support functions related to suppliers have been transferred from the Parts Purchasing Dept. No.2 to the Body Production Engineering Dept. in the Production Engineering Div.
- Production technology support functions related to suppliers have been transferred from the Parts Purchasing Dept. No.3 to the Powertrain Production Engineering Dept. in the Production Engineering Div.
- In line with the above changes, the Cross Carline Purchasing Strategy Dept. has been eliminated.

(3) Changes in the area of global marketing

Goals
- To strengthen sales and marketing strategies.
- To consolidate business support for both North America and Europe, and strengthen support for implementing strategies.

Details of the organizational changes
- The Global Brand Marketing Dept. has been reorganized and renamed Global Brand Management Dept. The strategic planning and research functions of the Global Product Marketing Dept. have been transferred to it.
- The North America & Europe Support and Management Dept. has been newly established.
- Functions of the Global Sales Planning Dept. have been transferred to the North America & Europe Support and Management Dept., directly under the Global Marketing Division. The Global Sales Planning Dept. has been eliminated.
