Conor Daly Thinking Through The Challenges At Milwaukee
![]() |
Noblesville, June 17, 2009: With the biggest win of his career in his rear-view mirror, Mazdaspeed driver Conor Daly is looking forward to overcoming the intrinsic challenges associated with running the vaunted Milwaukee Mile.
"There are going to be a couple of technical issues to deal with right off the transporter, such as running after the NASCAR guys rubber the track-in, and the fact that on ovals the car is more critical to the process of generating a good lap, because you can't hustle the car like you can on a road course," Conor said.
"Also, since I'm only 17 points behind Peter (Dempsey), showing consistency every weekend is going to be very important to my championship effort going forward. So I want to get as many points as I can this weekend, but I'd also be lying if I said that I don't want a second win in as many weeks. It would also be great to win there since Milwaukee was one of my Dad's favorite ovals, and he was on the podium the first time he raced there. However, when I tested there last month I quickly realized that ovals require an entirely different approach so I have to use my head."
