World’s Leading Producer of Cutting Tools to Serve as an Official Sponsor of SHR
KANNAPOLIS, June 11, 2009: Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team co-owned by two-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart and Haas Automation, has formed a technical partnership with Sandvik Coromant.
With its global headquarters in Sandviken, Sweden and its U.S. headquarters in Fair Lawn, N.J., Sandvik Coromant is the world’s leading producer of tools for turning, milling and drilling. This partnership with SHR allows the cutting tool company to become an official team sponsor, while providing SHR with all of its indexable tooling needs for its Haas CNC machines.
Sandvik Coromant will add another dimension in technical expertise for SHR when it comes to finding machining solutions and employing the industry’s latest techniques. It also strengthens Sandvik Coromant’s relationship with Oxnard, Calif.-based Haas Automation, the largest CNC machine tool builder in the western world.
“From an SHR and Haas Automation standpoint, this partnership with Sandvik Coromant gives us the best of both worlds,” said Joe Custer, executive vice president for SHR. “Not only does our race team get the finest tools for our CNC machines, but it also allows Stewart-Haas Racing to raise the bar even higher in terms of quality and performance.”
“This is an excellent opportunity for Sandvik Coromant to showcase the importance of having the latest tools and techniques available to properly compete at the highest level of NASCAR,” added Brian Norris, vice president of marketing for Sandvik Coromant U.S. “SHR is a perfect partner for us, as they are like-minded in our pursuit of the best result possible. The success they’ve achieved in such a quick amount of time speaks to the professionalism of the organization. We look forward to working together.”
