Renault's 'Green' Cars Bloom at BBC Gardeners' World Live
MAPLE CROSS, UNITED KINGDOM – June 11, 2009: Continuing its seven-year association with the BBC Gardeners’ World Live show, Renault is highlighting its ‘green’ credentials in more ways than one at this week’s five-day event. As well as displaying its range of ‘eco2’ cars, the French manufacturer is also showcasing a unique approach to eco-friendly stand design, perfectly in tune with its surroundings.
BBC Gardeners’ World Live continues to be one of the most well trodden events on the horticultural calendar, so as a key sponsor of this year’s show at the NEC in Birmingham, Renault is displaying its blossoming range with no less than six models. Four of them represent recent additions to the range, in the form of New Clio Sport Tourer, New Scénic, New Grand Scénic and New Kangoo, while all six form part of Renault ‘eco2’, the marque’s environmental range.
Each of the display cars represents a wise choice for any owner wishing to limit the carbon footprint of their car on the planet at every stage in its lifecycle, as well as eminently practical load-carrying for any kind of flora or fauna needing to be transported in them.
Under the eco2 banner, every eligible Renault model has to meet three strict criteria. Namely, emit 140 grams or less of carbon dioxide per kilometre, be manufactured in an ISO-14001-certified plant and contain more than 5% recycled plastic.
Ranging from Grand Modus with its low load sill height and 410 litres of boot space, to New Grand Scénic with seven seats, flat load floor and up to 2,063 litres of loading space, each Renault model on show offers interior versatility for all types of gardening enthusiast. Nor do they cost the earth to buy or run either.
Vibrant ‘green‘ display
Renault’s stand
design and construction reflects its continued commitment to issues of a
‘green’ nature. Among the innovative solutions employed to
minimise the environmental effects of its display materials at the show,
included the use of rubber flooring made from recycled car and truck tyres.
Elsewhere on the white and green themed stand, the main display area has
been constructed from timber fibreboard, made from recyled softwood dust
and wood chips.
Following their use at the show, all materials will be either re-used at other locations in Renault’s events programme, or recycled. To limit fuel usage and transport emissions, the display was manufactured and installed by a local contractor, less than 20 miles from the NEC exhibition complex.
