The Honda Foundation Donates $5,000 to Launceston City Mission
TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – June 9, 2009: The Honda Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Launceston City Mission.
The money was raised through the sale of ASIMO merchandise at the Honda stand at Agfest during May this year. ASIMO, short for Advanced Step in Innovative MObility, is the world’s first humanoid robot developed by Honda and is a milestone in robotics engineering. All proceeds from the sale of this merchandise were donated.
The Launceston City Mission provides assistance to people who have a physical, emotional, social or spiritual need and works with churches and community groups.
Sales Manager at Greg Crick Honda, Mr. Scott Waters handed over the cheque to Mr. Albert Van Zetten, CEO of the Launceston City Mission and also Launceston’s Mayor.
Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Lindsay Smalley, is pleased the Foundation was able to give something back to the local community. “It was great to see so many people come along to Agfest and support the Launceston City Mission by purchasing ASIMO merchandise. I want to commend the Mission on the important work they do for the local Launceston community.”
