Fiat Produces Its Ten Millionth Car to Take Number One in Brazil
BETIM, BRAZIL – June 8, 2009: Fiat is celebrating in Brazil, with its ten millionth car produced in the Latin American country helping to give Fiat more than a quarter of the local market and the number one spot with 60,628 cars sold in May alone.
Fiat has been building cars and light commercial vehicles in Brazil since 1976 and today the Fiat factory in Betim produced 15 different models and hundreds of variants, with more than 3000 vehicles produced per day. In May Fiat sold 60,628 vehicles to take 25.5 per cent of the Brazilian market, ahead of Volkswagen and General Motors, and enabling Fiat to claim the number one spot in the market for the first five months this year.
