Verrus Rolls out Pay by Phone Parking in Anchorage & Wilmington

VANCOUVER--Verrus Mobile Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of its popular Pay by Phone parking service in Anchorage, AK and Wilmington, NC. Both cities are committed to make parking easier and safer for residents and visitors through the use of the Verrus mobile payment system.

Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city has added the new payment option for the resident driver and it is already proving to be popular. The Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA) has been in the process of upgrading the city parking environment and chose the Verrus Pay by Phone technology which integrates with new parking meters supplied by Digital Payment Technologies.

“Pay by Phone is a natural fit for active Alaskans and tourists alike,” said Rick Onstott, ACDA's Parking Director. “We have many popular downtown attractions and events, many of which are staged in winter. Paying by phone in the comfort of a car and avoiding event lines at pay stations will surely be a hit in Anchorage.”

In Wilmington, North Carolina, until last month, drivers had to use coins to pay for their downtown on-street parking. With fewer people carrying coins these days, Lanier Parking partnered with Verrus to bring Pay by Phone parking to the Port City. Online receipts, text message reminders and extending parking time by phone are just a few of the advantages of the Verrus Pay by Phone service over traditional parking meters.

“This service has really taken off,” said Betty Gurganus Parking Manager, City of Wilmington. “Customers that have used pay by phone say 'it is so easy' 'no preplanning required' 'simply drive up to the meter and call'."
