Nissan Production, Sales, Export Results for April 2009

TOKYO (May 28, 2009) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced production, sales and export figures for April, 2009.

1. Production
Nissan's global production in April decreased 38.2% year-on-year to 183,248 units.

Production in Japan decreased 49.8% year-on-year to 49,663 units, due to the impact of model changes on the Nissan ECO Series to meet with new preferential tax scheme for environment-friendly vehicles.

Production outside of Japan decreased 32.5% year-on-year to 133,585 units.

In the U.S., production decreased 58.5% year-on-year to 22,600 units.

In Mexico, production decreased 34.2% year-on-year to 26,675 units.

In the U.K., production decreased 29.9% year-on-year to 26,432 units.

In Spain, production decreased 85.2% year-on-year to 2,853 units.

In China, continued growth is seen with increased production of 36.0% year-on-year to 43,804 units.

Production in other regions fell 17.0% year-on-year to 11,221 units.

2. Sales
Global sales decreased 20.6% to 233,132 units compared to the previous year.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 29,533 units in Japan, down 31.7% year-on-year. Market share was down 1.3 percentage points year-on-year to 10.4%.

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in April decreased 38.7% year-on-year to 21,165 units. Nissan's share of the domestic market registrations in April was down 2.1 percentage points year-on-year to 12.7%.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 3.8% from the previous year to 8,368 units.

Sales outside of Japan decreased 18.7% year-on-year to 203,599 units.

Sales in the U.S. decreased 37.8% year-on-year to 47,190 units.

In Europe, sales decreased 16.1% year-on-year to 37,980 units.

April marks a record month for China. Sales improved by 37.1% year-on-year to 66,339 units, bolstered by sales of Teana, Sylphy and Tiida.

Sales in other regions were down 34.8% from the previous year to 36,289 units.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in April decreased 54.3% year-on-year to 30,670 units.

Exports to North America decreased 46.3% year-on-year to 15,143 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 43.7% year-on-year to 4,423 units.
