DARTFORD, UNITED KINGDOM – may 26, 2009: Mazda is once again demonstrating its commitment to the Mazda Blenheim and London Triathlons by entering a team in this year’s events.
'Team Mazda’ was established by the headline sponsor in 2008, comprising Mazda staff from all areas of the business, including senior directors and dealership employees, along with a number of automotive and sports journalists. Such is the popularity of the sport that the team has now more than doubled in size to 56 members of varying levels of experience.
Mazda Sales and Marketing Director Mark Cameron will be making his triathlon debut at the Mazda Blenheim Triathlon, where he will compete in the Sprint distance race. He explained: “At Mazda we believe in leading by example, which is why so many Mazda staff from all levels of the business are competing at Blenheim and London. Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom philosophy is about exhilarating experiences and the thrill of challenging oneself. Triathlon echoes that perfectly.”
Other Mazda directors taking part in the event are Graeme Fudge, PR Director, Peter Allibon, Fleet and Remarketing Director, Steve Jelliss, Aftersales Director, and James Hopkins, Director of European Fleet Operations at Mazda Motor Europe.
Earlier this month, the team came together at Eton Dorney Rowing Centre for a training day led by BTF Level 3 coach David Tilbury-Davis and professional triathlete Anne Fallows. The pair offered extensive advice on training and techniques in all three triathlon disciplines. “The training day was incredibly useful and really helped build team spirit,” added Cameron.
Mazda is committed to growing the sport of triathlon. As well as providing sponsorship to major events such as the Mazda London and Blenheim Triathlons, Mazda also sponsors elite triathlete Tim Don to act as an ambassador for the sport.
