SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – May 25, 2009: The Government’s new rules on car pricing and advertising call for total clarity when they are introduced on 24 May 2009 and Fiat is offering total pricing clarity for its cars and vans – the same driveaway pricing right across Australia.

“There has been a lot of discussion about how these new rules will be introduced and many of the suggestions would seem to make the finding the right price harder, not easier for car buyers,” says Andrei Zaitzev, General Manager for Fiat in Australia. “For some car makers this could mean dozens of different prices for the same car, depending where you live in Australia. But not at Fiat. We have taken the decision to follow the spirit of the new rules, not the letter of the law, and make our pricing as simple and as easy to follow as possible.”

“This means that from 24 May 2009, all Fiat prices will be driveaway, all-inclusive prices and they will be the same right across Australia.”

Under Fiat’s new pricing strategy it will be possible to walk into a Fiat dealer on 24 May 2009 and pay a recommended driveaway price of just $18,990 for a Fiat Punto 1.4 Dynamic manual and drive out of the showroom without paying a single dollar more. Customers looking for a larger Fiat can drive out of the showroom in a Fiat Ritmo 1.9 JTD Dynamic and part with no more than a recommend driveaway price of $25,990. The chic style of the award-winning Fiat 500 opens at a driveaway recommended retail price of $22,990.

Fiat have also set the clarity benchmark with its acclaimed commercial vehicle range, with the Driveaway pricing launched early this year now a permanent feature of its range of Scudo and Ducato models. This means that it is now possible for businesses to benefit from the efficiency, safety, comfort and economy of a Fiat commercial vehicle from a wallet welcoming recommended driveaway price of $34,490 for a Fiat Scudo, while the load-swallow space of the Fiat Ducato is available from a recommended driveaway price of $39,990.

“There have been claims that the arrival of these new pricing rules could induce sticker price shock amongst car buyers as they react badly to new, higher all-inclusive prices,” says Mr Zaitzev. “But this won’t happen with Fiat, where there’ll be sticker delight as customers warm to our new clear pricing, our value for money packages and, of course, a level of chic style that could only come from Italy!”
