MARTORELL, SPAIN – May 20, 2009: Joan Delort, Secretary for Security at the Catalan government’s Department of the Interior and Institutional Relations, accompanied by other authorities of the Catalan autonomous police, today paid a visit to the SEAT facilities in Martorell to get first-hand knowledge of the manufacturing activity of the Spanish car manufacturer, particularly its production system.

Joan Delort was welcomed at the plant by Wolfram Thomas, Vice-president for Production of SEAT. During the guided tour of the factory, the secretary for Security of the Catalan government had the opportunity to see the latest manufacturing adaptations implemented at the plant for the manufacture of new products.

He was also provided with a detailed description of SEAT’s sequential supply system known as Just in Time, as well as the importance of the preservation of the logistical supply for the proper functioning of production.

The group then went on to see the state-of-the-art facilities at SEAT’s Technical Centre as well as the Design building. In the latter innovation complex, the group saw in full flow the activity of the one hundred or so highly qualified engineers, designers and model-makers who work there.
