Tokyo, May 20, 2009; TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION announces that it will hold the 35th "Toyota Safety School" event at the Toyota Kaikan Exhibition Hall in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on 26 days from May 25 to July 16.

The event, which is supported by the local police, has been held since 1975 for kindergarten and nursery school children living in and around Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and aims to offer children a fun way to gain knowledge about traffic rules that they can apply in their daily lives.

At the event, the Toyota traffic-safety mascots - Safety Man, Safety Woman, and Cuccu-doodle-doo - will teach children the importance of being aware of their surroundings and potential dangers through a skit featuring real street scenes and sound effects, such as railway crossings. There will also be a quiz in which children identify street sounds such as car horns and tire screeches, an animated video about traffic safety and instruction on how to properly cross an intersection with traffic lights.

Approximately 5,350 children from 119 kindergartens and nursery schools are expected to participate this year.
