Seeking Additional Growth with Innovative Product Designs, Lippert Components Acquires Patents for QuickBite Coupler

GOSHEN, Ind., May 18, 2009 -- Lippert Components, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Drew Industries Incorporated , reported today that it acquired the patents for "QuickBite Coupler," and certain related manufacturing assets.

"For several decades the standard coupler design on a towable trailer has basically remained the same. This innovative design not only contributes to the safety of coupling a trailer to a tow vehicle, but it has an alignment system integrated into the coupler," said Brian Donat, Director of Marketing for Lippert Components.

Donat said the QuickBite automatic dual jaw locking system eliminates several steps when coupling the trailer to a tow vehicle reducing the chances for human error. "Features alone are not the only interest we have in the design. We feel the product has the ability to tap into new markets that we are actively pursuing. We also believe that the QuickBite product will have potential for global distribution. We are very excited about the acquisition of the QuickBite product and are ready to aggressively market its numerous features and benefits," added Donat.
