INGOLSTADT, GERMANY – May 18, 2009: The countdown is running: This Thursday, the second edition of the HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open presented by Audi will tee off at Gut Häusern. Five golfers already start enjoying “Vorsprung durch Technik” today: Audi provides Audi A5 Cabriolets to the best female pros for the duration of the tournament that is endowed with 300,000 euros of prize money.

“Following last year’s premiere, we are highly pleased to be the partner of the second edition of this high-caliber tournament as well and wish all the contenders a successful competition,” says Bastian Kaltofen, Head of Trade Fairs, Event and Sports Marketing Germany of AUDI AG. “Audi has been supporting amateur and professional golf with great success for over two decades. The commitment at the German Open perfectly complements our amateur tournament series, the Audi quattro Cup.”

From now until the end of the playing week, Melissa Reid, Gwladys Nocera, Paula Marti, Anne-Lise Caudal and Anja Monke are driving Audi A5 Cabriolets. “I’m delighted about this opportunity,” says the 31-year-old Anja Monke from Herford. “The A5 is a fantastic car. And this promotion shows that Audi does not limit its role to that of a sponsor but continually comes up with ideas to invigorate its partnership with golf.” And perhaps the “rental car” will even turn into more: As a hole-in-one prize, Audi donates an Audi A5 Cabriolet this year.

In addition to its role as Presenting Sponsor featured in the tournament’s name, the automobile manufacturer from Ingolstadt provides the entire shuttle service consisting of 25 vehicles at Gut Häusern and sports the four rings in the tournament’s logos as well as around the entire German Open event. The Audi terminal at tee one will again be an attractive hub. Besides the exclusive Audi Golf Collection, the current Audi models Audi R8 V10, Audi A5 Cabriolet, Audi TT RS and Audi A4 allroad quattro will be showcased there. The modern terminal became a popular meeting place for players, partners and celebrities last year.

Before the official start of the tournament on Thursday, some 120 participants will meet for a ProAm tournament on Wednesday, including Audi’s guests Tobias Angerer, Monika Bergmann, Martin Tomczyk and Sybille Beckenbauer.
