Diaz Paces Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Practice At Mosport

CANADA, May 16, 2009: Jorge Diaz Jr., of San Juan, Puerto Rico, was quickest in this morning’s Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am practice at Mosport International Raceway. Tommy Drissi, of Los Angeles, and Canadian Blaise Csida completed the top three.

Due to the wet conditions, only four of the 13 Trans-Am cars took to the track for this morning’s Round Three practice. Driving the No. 2 JD Racing Jaguar XKR, Diaz turned the session’s fastest lap with a 1:41.763 (86.990 mph).

Nearly 5.5-seconds slower than Diaz, Drissi turned the second quickest time of 1:47.244 (82.544 mph) around the 2.459-mile, 10-turn circuit in his No. 5 Night at the Museum 2 Jaguar XKR. Csida, a local driver from nearby Stouffville, Ontario, recorded the third fastest time of 1:49.399 (80.918 mph) in his No. 07 BC Race Cars Chevrolet Corvette.

Trans-Am series point leader Tony Ave, of Maiden, N.C., ran only one practice lap in the No. 10 McMahon Group/Stumpf Ford Ford Mustang and turned in the fourth-best time of 1:51.195 (79.611 mph).

Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am series practice continues at 1:40 p.m. (EDT) today. Qualifying is set for 10:35 a.m. Sunday, May 16, with the green flag set to drop on Round Three at 3:20 p.m. later in the day.
