Noblesville, May 14, 2009: Last week was a busy time for Mazdaspeed driver Conor Daly. During the weekend's pole proceedings at Indy, Conor appeared as a guest with Richard Petty on Saturday morning's Bob & Tom Show live from Gasoline alley. The show was nationally televised on WGN, in addition to syndicated radio.
Understanding that racing is very much a relationship business Conor "pressed the flesh" with as many industry leaders as possible, before having dinner with Graham Rahal and Dario Franchitti that evening. He and his Dad, Derek spent much of Saturday and Sunday in the pit lane enjoying and soaking up the Indy experience.
Regardless of the pleasant diversion, however, his work was calling. Having never seen the road course at Utah, Conor flew to Salt Lake on Monday to begin his local preparations for this weekend's Larry H. Miller Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park. "My objective last week was to see, and be seen at Indy, while continuing to focus on my championship effort in the Star Mazda Series. On Tuesday, I took the opportunity to test a Ford Mustang Challenge car at Miller Motorsports Park car to become as familar with the circuit as I could before official Star Mazda practice starts, said Conor. He will qualify and race on Saturday May 16th. Qualifying will begin at 8:00a MTN, with the race set to begin at 6:05p MTN.
Miller Motorsports Park is a state-of-the-art road racing facility for automobiles, motorcycles and karts located just 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City in Tooele, Utah. It is considered the finest facility of its type in North America. Opened in 2006, Miller Motorsports Park hosts many of the world's most significant racing series, including the American Le Mans Series, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, NASCAR Grand National West Series, AMA Superbike Championship and, new for 2008, the FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, one of the top three racing series in the world.
