Buttonwillow, May 13, 2009: Team Stargate Worlds Prepares for Round 2 Action at Miller Motorsports Park
After a two month break, the Atlantic Championship season roars back to competition when the series arrives at the Miller Motorsports Park for Round 2 of the 2009 Cooper Tires Atlantic Championship Powered By Mazda season. Team Stargate Worlds returns to compete in what looks to be an exciting and competitive weekend.
With renewed determination the Team Stargate Worlds duo of Frankie Muniz and Simona De Silvestro intend to show up and fight their way to the front, seeking to improve their point standings for the prized 2009 Championship. The competition will be fierce but these two seasoned veterans of the series are up to the task. With more than 4 years of combined experience in the Atlantic Championship series Muniz and De Silvestro look to be using that experience on track. The race track, located in Tooele, Utah, provided De Silvestro with a fifth place finish last year while Muniz was able to reel in a fourteenth place finish.
Team Stargate Worlds has not been idle during the long break. Muniz, De Silvestro and crew have been busy testing at various tracks throughout California in recent weeks. Last week the team tested at the team’s home track of Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Before that they tested at Thunderhill Raceway Park. All tests produced valuable data that the team hopes to convert into success at Miller.
Frankie Muniz, Driver No. 77 - “I'm very excited about returning back to racing after our break. Miller is one of my favorite track so it definitely adds to my excitement about this weekend. We did a lot of testing during the break and that provided us with an opportunity to learn and gather data that we can hopefully use for this weekend. The test also allowed for the team to mesh together.”
Simona De Silvestro, Driver No. 78 - “I’m really looking forward to this weekend, especially after the testing we’ve done since our last race. We have made a lot of progress and I feel that we are ready. The success that my Engineer Burke Harrison had last year at this track also provides me with a lot of confidence. I had a good result here last year as well so I'm excited about this weekend."
Imran Safiulla and Shane Seneviratne, Principals Of Team Stargate Worlds- “This is an important race weekend for us. We have some close business partnerships in the region and a lot of good friends there. It's a home race of sorts. Simona and Frankie showed well in the last couple of tests and we are excited to get to Miller and pick up some valuable championship points.
