Henderson, May 11, 2009: As Round 3 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear draws nearer, so does another chance for drivers to perfect their skills on Virtual Concept’s flagship RS1 Xtreme M3 race car simulator. This time around, the Virtual Concept team will be heading to Tooele, Utah for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park. Once again, Virtual Concept Sims™ is proud to be accompanying Kester Racing with Team 3G from May 15th, 2009 to May 17th, 2009 in the Star Mazda paddock.

Round 2 of the series at Virginia International Raceway proved to be a very successful event for Virtual Concept Sims™. Drivers from Grand-Am’s Rolex Sports Car Series drove the Riley MkXX Daytona Prototype, a car that is native to many of the racing teams in the series, at Virginia International Raceway on the racing simulator. Other drivers from the Star Mazda Championship series and the Skip Barber National series were also able to race their respective cars on the featured track using software from iRacing.com. Some of the drivers made a second or third appearance to use the simulator as a means to practice. Star Mazda’s Peter Dempsey was one of those drivers. He later took his Aim Autosport #21 to a 1st place finish on Sunday, which he believes the racing simulator helped him achieve. Here is what Peter had to say:

“The RS1 Xtreme M3 simulator was awesome to have at Virginia International Raceway”, says Peter Dempsey, #21. “I was able to learn the proper gears and braking points for all of the corners on the track before I took my Aim Autosport Star Mazda out for the first practice session. Virginia International Raceway on the simulator is very similar to the real thing. As the weekend progressed, I used the simulator to try different lines and braking points around the track. I tried these adjustments on the racing simulator first; that way if something went wrong, I could just reset and go back to the pits! This saved me a lot on repairs! When I analyzed the data from the Star Mazda, I noticed I was over-braking the car going into turns 3 and 4. In turns 10 and 17, I wasn't carrying enough speed. I used the simulator before qualifying to work on these corners. This gave me a great advantage as I recorded my best lap time of the weekend and qualified in Position 2, 0.12 seconds behind Pole Position. A few more rounds of practice on the simulator before Sunday’s race helped me get to the front and take the win. I would like to thank Virtual Concept Sims™ and Kester Racing with Team 3G for allowing me spend so much time on it!”

“The Virtual Concept team would like to congratulate Peter on his win at Virginia International Raceway”, says Ron Larabie, President of Virtual Concept. “We are glad to hear that the race car simulator helped him perfect his race. This is what many of our customers use the unit for and we enjoy seeing the benefits it provides on a professional playing field.”
