Extra Special- The Hyundai i10 and i30 ES

HIGH WYCOMBE, UNITED KINGDOM – May 11, 2009: The Hyundai i10 and i30 already offer exceptional style and value. But now they have got Extra Special with the addition of the ES edition.

These limited editions are based on the entry level cars in the ranges, but have extra style, more luxury and even more money off for customers wanting to make the most of the scrappage scheme.

The acclaimed i10 ES has all the equipment of the Classic model including four air-bags, air-conditioning, central locking and front electric windows. In addition, the ES adds driver’s seat height adjustment, remote central locking and colourful inserts on the interior seating, dashboard and door panels. Outside, the i10 ES features body-coloured door handles, mirrors and bumper inserts.

The i10 ES is powered by a 1.1-litre petrol engine, giving an official average fuel consumption figure of 56.5mpg. An emissions figure of just 119g/km means it sits in VED band B, with £35 a year road tax.

Only 1,000 i10 ES editions are available, priced at £7,195. Hyundai will encourage owners to trade into a newer, cleaner and safer Hyundai by matching the government’s £1,000 scrappage allowance on eligible trade-ins – making an i10 ES available for just £5,195.

For those needing a bigger car, the new ES version of the i30 hatchback is based on the popular 1.4 Comfort model but adds extra luxury equipment including electronic climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, reversing sensors and a stylish silver front grille to add a little extra visual verve. Reflecting this silver treatment inside is an alloy-look centre fascia.

As with all i30s, the ES is also equipped with ESP, four electric windows, integrated steering wheel audio controls, six airbags, a trip computer, iPod/USB integration and active head restraints. There is also the reassurance of Hyundai’s famous Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty.

The i30 ES model is powered by the efficient and frugal 1.4-litre, 108bhp petrol engine which returns 46.3 mpg and produces just 145g/km of CO2 – making it one of the lowest emitting petrol-powered C-segment vehicles available.

Just 500 i30 ES editions will be made, priced at £11,795. Customers trading in a car under the scrappage scheme will find the i30 ES even better value with Hyundai matching the government’s £1,000 and adding an additional £1,500. This will take the scrappage price down to just £8,295.

Both models are available to order now, but are expected to sell out quickly as the scrappage scheme goes live. Enquiries at Hyundai dealers are up by more than 400% following the chancellor’s announcement last month.
