“Collectors Foundation to Facilitate and Direct Funds to Future Automotive Designers”
AUBURN, May 8, 2009: La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse has established the La Dolce Vita Automobili Scholarship. The Italian and European car event to be held August 14, 2009 in Monterey, California will support the future of the automotive realm by assisting young adults who have chosen a career path in automotive design. Event Co Founder Kerry McMullen shares, “Nothing is more important to our team than furthering the artistry and creativity that makes the car realm so vibrant”. The scholarship is another step in the La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse effort to preserve the admiration of cars for future generations. The event is encouraging families to bring youth to the event to learn about cars with names like FIAT, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, DeTomaso, Pantera, Abarth and more and is offering a free ticket for ages 17 and under when accompanied by an adult. “Companies like FIAT, VW and GM have been kept alive for decades by the designs of yesterday’s youth and we’re doing our part to further tomorrow’s automotive pioneers”, comments Co Founder Jerry Kaye.
The La Dolce Vita Automobili Scholarship will be managed by the Collectors Foundation who will oversee the disbursement of funds and advise on individuals and programs in need of funding. Founded by Hagerty Insurance Agency, Collectors Foundation is a 501(c) 3 cooperative philanthropic enterprise that supports youth development and the long-term interests of collector vehicle and classic boat enthusiasts. Collectors Foundation Executive Director Bob Knechel explains, “We have an amazing support network of national and international businesses and private collectors supporting the foundation and we’re thrilled La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse has joined our long-term efforts and chosen Collectors Foundation to manage the scholarship”. To date, Collectors Foundation has awarded scholarships and grants to educational programs in 18 different states, 1 Canadian Province and 4 National Clubs.
In 2009 funds will be generated for the scholarship through a silent auction in place during the La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse event. Facilitated by Grandstand Sports and Memorabilia, Inc., the auction will offer car owners and the general public the opportunity to bid on music, movie and sports memorabilia as well as automotive art, known to collectors as Automobilia. Grandstand Sports Representative Daniel Levy shares, “This is a great event for our auction to get involved in because of the generosity of the car guys and mutual interest with the event in supporting youth in the car community. We’re looking forward to helping La Dolce Vita Automobili achieve their goal of donating money to a scholarship fund and we’re very excited to be on board”. Additional silent auction items available include one-of-a-kind experiences such as a child’s clinic which includes a day of swimming with Olympic champion Michael Phelps. Participants simply identify items of interest and write down a bid price. Late in the afternoon, the highest bid wins the item and a portion of the proceeds from the sale will go to the La Dolce Vita Automobili Scholarship fund. 100% of the purchase price is tax deductible.
