Minister Miguel Sebastian Makes an Informative Visit to Seat

MARTORELL, SPAIN – April 28, 2009: Taking advantage of an informative visit to SEAT, Spanish Minister for Industry, Tourism and Trade Miguel Sebastián visited the Martorell factory this morning, where he was greeted by SEAT’s Board of Directors chairman Francisco García Sanz and SEAT Executive Committee chairman Erich Schmitt. The visit was scheduled on the occasion of the Martorell plant receiving the concession to manufacture the Audi Q3.
Schmitt expressed his gratitude to the Minister upon his arrival: “On behalf of all SEAT employees, I would sincerely like to thank you once again for the support you and your collaborators have given us”. Likewise, he thanked Catalonia’s autonomous Government and the SEAT staff and employees for their support during the concessionary process.
During his visit, the Minister enquired about the future development of SEAT range models, and got a close look at the final assembly of the Exeo and SEAT’s modern production processes. Special emphasis was made on the main issues surrounding the importance of the decision to manufacture the Q3 in Martorell.
Meanwhile, Francisco Garcia Sanz’s participation highlighted the positive effects this decision will have: “By manufacturing the Q3 in SEAT, we can guarantee 1,200 jobs in the company and many more in related industries. Besides, the Volkswagen Group is going to invest 300 million euros in Martorell”.
Miguel Sebastián was also particularly interested in knowing the staff’s concerns, and talked with several SEAT employees working along the assembly line.
