New Tracks for JLS at Mercedes-Benz World

SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM – April 22, 2009: X-Factor runners up JLS took to the Handling Circuits at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey last weekend on a day out to celebrate lead singer Aston’s 21st birthday.

Aston, Oritse, Marvin, and JB, who were mentored by Louis Walsh in the hit ITV show, spent the morning behind the wheel of some of the most awe-inspiring vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz range. The foursome took to the purpose-built Handling Circuits in the C 63 AMG, with a 6.2 litre V8 engine that unleashes 457 hp. They developed performance driving techniques including spectacular power sliding on the Wet Skid Circle, the only one of its kind open to the public in the UK.

Next up, the group pushed an M-Class to its limits as part of the Off-Road Experience. Their nerves were put to the test as they tackled 10 acres of rugged terrain, including steep slopes, water-crossings and axle-twisting obstacles.

Finally, JLS made the most of the sunny weather by posing for photos in front of an iconic Mercedes-Benz C 63AMG, before signing autographs for fans who were visiting the Brand Experience Centre for a day out.

Aston Merrygold, lead singer of JLS, commented: “Since the show finished, we’ve been kept busy with performances, public appearances and, of course, the X-Factor tour. That’s why it was great to come down to Mercedes-Benz World with the the rest of the band for a day out to belatedly celebrate my birthday.

“We were bowled over by the Brand Experience Centre. From classic cars to the very latest in the Mercedes-Benz range, we’d never seen so many vehicles, from so many eras, in one place. There’s even Lewis Hamilton’s 2007 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes car on show. There was a great atmosphere, and we’re already planning a trip back to hone our skills further with a three hour AMG Advanced experience.”

JLS are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut single which is out in the summer. The AMG and Off-Road Driving Experiences enjoyed by Aston, Oritse, Marvin and JB are available to the public, from £30 for a 15 minute passenger rides.
