INTERSPORT READY FOR ANOTHER GO AT ST. PETERSBURG

Braselton, March 31, 2009: Present at the first race in the history of the American Le Mans Series, Intersport Racing will be on the grid for the Series’ 101st all-time event. The popular Ohio-based team will be has entered its AER-powered Lola B06/10 in LMP1 for this weekend’s Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg. Clint and Jon Field will start the season’s first street race alongside Chapman Ducote.
“If you would have asked me five years ago where I wanted to be at the top of my career I would have told you without any hesitation, ‘In an LMP1 car’,” said Ducote, who raced an Aston Martin DBR9 in GT1 last season. “These cars are truly amazing and probably the most technically advanced race cars on the planet next to a Formula 1 car.”
The Intersport Lola-AER will be fueled by cellulosic E85.
Intersport Racing, which will run its prototype on cellulosic E85, is the only team in history to have fielded prototype entries in each of the new 11 American Le Mans Series seasons. With 21 American Le Mans Series victories, Intersport ranks fifth among all teams and third among prototype entrants. It won the 2005 LMP2 team championship with Clint Field winning his first driver championship; at 21 he is the youngest prototype champion in IMSA history. Jon Field won the P675 title in 2002.
Intersport also is one of two teams to win races in two prototype classes, the latest a P1 victory at Detroit in 2008.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg is the second round of the 2009 American Le Mans Series. The green flag is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 4 from the St. Petersburg street circuit.
