Yokohama Tire Corporation-Sponsored Cameron Steele Takes Second in SNORE Mint 400

FULLERTON, CA March 30, 2009: Amid the glitz of Las Vegas, Cameron Steele had the grit to battle through brake and other mechanical glitches to place second overall and second in the Unlimited Truck class in the March 28 SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts) Mint 400. Riding on Yokohama 37-inch Geolandar A/T-SŪ R tires, the defending series champion finished behind Andy McMillin in a terse, seesaw off-road race held 25 miles north of “Sin City.”

“This is one of the toughest tests for a Trophy Truck,” said Steele. “We fought hard all day and coming in second here keeps us in the hunt for the overall championship, which is our ultimate goal.”

After two races, Steele, who won the season opener at Primm, Nevada, last month, is currently second in points. Steele, of San Clemente, California, is also a commentator for ABC, ESPN and Fuel TV, and has won 25 major off-road races, including a 2003 victory at the Baja 1000. Plus, he's twice been named SCORE Person of the Year.

“Cameron’s a true competitor and showed it today,” said Mark Chung, Yokohama director, corporate strategy and planning. “Finishing one-two in the first two races of the season is a great start.”
