Danny Lasoski, Sammy Swindell, Donny Schatz and the rest of

the WoO Sprint Car Series invade Pevely April 18

PEVELY, Mo. March 27, 2009: The legendary Sammy Swindell started the 2009 racing season off with a bang, winning his fifth Golden Driller at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Okla., in January. Area race fans will be able to see Swindell, along with Danny “The Dude” Lasoski, Steve Kinser, and Donny Schatz April 18 when the World of Outlaws Sprint Cup Series returns to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo.

Three-time series champion Schatz leads the standings with three wins so far this year, followed by “The King” Steve Kinser in second. The 2008 I-55 Raceway event winner Jason Meyers is third in the standings, with Swindell in fourth, and Joey Saldana in fifth with three wins this season driving for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kasey Kahne.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has traditionally been one of the biggest draws on the I-55 schedule and this year should be no different, especially with the UMP Modifieds sharing the bill. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. on raceday, with Modified hot laps kicking off at 4 p.m. and heat races scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. The sprint cars take to the 1/3-mile, high-banked dirt track at 6:15 p.m. with qualifying at 6:45 p.m. World of Outlaws racing is scheduled to start at 7:30.

Admission is $30 for general admission and $32 for reserved seats with kids 12 under getting in free. Race fans who order reserved tickets prior to April 1 will receive a free pit pass.
