Fan Friendly Hotel Options Available On Race Weekend At Dover International Speedway

DOVER, Del. March 26, 2009: Race fans know that lodging is typically the largest expense when attending a NASCAR race weekend, and Dover International Speedway has been working to help the cause of fans attending 2009 race weekends at the Monster Mile.
Dover International Speedway has been meeting regularly with local hotel operators and tourism officials to create a list of participating “fan friendly” hotel options for race fans. To participate in the new program, participating hotel operators have reduced minimum-night-stay requirements and created fan friendly room rates.
“We’re pleased with the response we received from hoteliers in the area,” said Denis McGlynn, president and CEO of Dover Motorsports, Inc. “We are working hard to dispel the misperception that hotel rooms aren’t readily available on race weekend. There has been tremendous growth in the area in the last three years, and with it comes many more lodging options.
“We’re helping race fans by creating a list of fan friendly hotel options, and we’re open to adding other properties to this list if they’d like to participate. This is a win-win for fans and hotels, and makes good business sense during any economic condition,” said McGlynn.
The track previously included a large list of all hotels in the area on its website and in its fan guide. With this new policy, the Speedway will only actively help to promote properties that are making a sincere effort to put race fans first.
More than fifteen hotels have agreed to participate so far, and more are expected to be added soon. A list of hotels is available online at DoverSpeedway.com/track/hotels. Ticket office representatives can also provide fans with the list of participating hotels by calling 800-441-RACE.
Through the years, the track has established ticket payment programs that provide affordable and convenient ways for NASCAR fans to secure race tickets that meet their needs and match their budgets. Dover continues to offer an array of ticket options including special 3-day ticket packages, all-inclusive hospitality packages, early buy discounts and a variety of payment plans. Tickets start at just $50 and are still available for the May 29-31 and Sept. 25-27, 2009 race weekends.
