Kia's Red Nose Cash
SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM – March 23, 2009: Kia Motors staff from all over the UK took part in a whole host of activities to ‘Do Something Funny for Money’ - stilt-walking, quizzing and eating their way towards raising over £100,000 for Red Nose Day 2009.
As a supporting partner of Red Nose Day 2009, Kia even introduced a limited edition Picanto Red to mark the occasion, giving £100 from every one sold directly to the charity – that’s enough to send two vulnerable Zambian children to school for a year. Customers who bought the limited edition car received a huge bag of Red Nose Day 2009 goodies and a signed ‘Thank You’ certificate from Kevin Cahill, Chief Executive, Comic Relief.
As well as introducing the special edition Picanto Red, the staff at Kia Motors also got involved in the various fund-raising activities - 25 year old moustaches were shaved off, men’s legs were waxed (well, actually he could only manage one!), cakes were baked and three-legged races ran, all to raise as much money as possible.
Kia dealers played their part too by hosting comedy nights, Family Fun Days and by donating money for each MOT or service undertaken. Some Kia dealers even joined in the ‘Pimp my Part-Ex’ challenge. The 15 vehicles that had been lovingly ‘pimped’ by various dealers were then auctioned off by British Car Auctions (BCA) adding another £7,200 to Kia’s Fund-Raising total.
Paul Philpott, Managing Director Kia Motors (UK) Limited, commented on Kia’s success; “I am so proud of everyone that helped us to beat our target of £100,000 for Red Nose Day 2009. It is such an important charity both home and abroad and to think that Kia and its staff contributed to this year’s record-breaking total is truly amazing.”
