DONONGTON PARK, UNITED KINGDOM – March 23, 2009: The sight of Donington Park circuit, the smell of spring in the air and the sound of seriously tuned engines vying with big beats... It can only mean one thing – it’s time for Britain’s biggest modified car show, the International Styling and Tuning Show (ISTS).
On the weekend of the 11th and 12th April, the ISTS takes over the British Grand Prix’s new home, Donington Park, and attracts over 50,000 clued up car modders by showing off the latest and greatest that the scene has to offer.
There’ll be the most exotic big power supercars, massively tuned Japanese motors, awe-inspiring drifting, the iconic Monster trucks – Big Foot and Thunderbolt – track action and celebrities such as Shane Lynch who transforms from a mild mannered member of Boyzone to a racing speed demon.
Rather than loiter in the Grandstand, ISTS is encouraging drivers to fire up their cars and to take to the track. Held on the Melbourne Loop and unique to the show, visitors can drive the Super Car Loop for just £25 (providing they hold a full driving licence). Cars available include the latest supercar icons, such as: the Lamborghini Gallardo, 911 Turbo, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Ferrari 360 Modena. So be quick, bookings are now being taken but call 01775 768661 for further details.
Or if you think your car can do it better, you can book a session to take your vehicle on Donnie’s famous circuit, with clubs with 20 or more cars being offered exclusive track sessions. Individual places are available and there are helmets for hire.
Prefer something more hardcore and packed full of adrenaline? Well, take a passenger ride with the Caterham Drive Experience (CDX). CDX is the official factory driving experience team and runs Slalom, Drift and Circuit experiences around the UK. Experience the buzz of being a passenger in these ferociously fast cars.
Drift action is a huge part of ISTS and the first rounds of both the British Drift Championship (BDC) and PRODRIFT series will be held on Saturday and Sunday; both series are an exciting and brand new addition to this year’s show. And to complete the circuit action, the Mitsubishi Lancer Register will be in force on Saturday with an exclusive open pit session from 2pm to 7pm.
Away from the circuit and on to the pit lane, Paddock One will contain the massive ICE Village (in Car Entertainment) so prepare your ears for an onslaught of the latest phat beats! The biggest and loudest of any event, the ICE Village will find manufacturers competing for the attention of the huge crowds while EMMA will once again be hosting the Sound Challenge.
Paddock Two will house a huge auto-related exhibition area with parts, accessories, vehicles, insurance, etc, as well as over 2,000 club cars on display around the site. The Autoglym Best in Britain also returns at the heart of the show in the Paddock Suite. Visitors will see the best new vehicles in the market for the first time at ISTS with all schools of styling welcome.
Performing at the show on both days will be Fred Crossett, courtesy of Monster Energy Drink. Fred performs moto-trial displays on his trials bike and has to be seen to be believed while adrenalin junkies still wanting more can learn how to drive a Mini on two wheels.
ISTS will continue to entertain when the sun goes down on Saturday evening with those staying on site in the camping facilities invited to join the biggest names in UK clubbing for the exclusive Cream Party Night. Hosted by the leading trance brand ‘Cream’, DJs appearing include Cosmic Gate, Rob H and Ian Alvey.
ISTS is open from 9.30am Saturday and Sunday. Day Tickets are available £18 for adults in advance and £22 on the day. Children’s tickets are just £5. Also available for day visitors is the VIP Pass, priced at just £25 in advance and £30 on the day, which includes advance entry, VIP parking, grandstand viewing, show programme, reduced costs for the super car loop and Caterham experience.
