Edwards P3, Niemela P6 For NWR At Sebring

Sebring, FL March 18, 2009: Newman Wachs Racing drivers John Edwards, and Markus Niemela completed the first of two qualifications for the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda today at Sebring International Raceway. Edwards is currently 3rd on the grid and Niemela 6th after losing his fastest lap when he brought out a red flag with just seconds remaining in the session.

American John Edwards, at only 18, is competing in the Atlantic Series for his sophomore season after winning the Star Mazda Championship and earning the coveted MAZDASPEED Motorsports driver development scholarship. In the previous two practice sessions, John had the fastest time, and in qualifying he was never out of the top 5. He will have one more chance tomorrow afternoon to move up to the front row for Friday’s race.
