B-Roll Media Advisory
Nearly 7,000 15- to 20-year-old drivers were involved in fatal vehicle crashes in the United States in 2007. Through Project Ignition, a national service-learning program created by State Farm(R) and the National Youth Leadership Council(R) (NYLC), high school students from around the country created teen driver safety programs designed to reverse the teen vehicle crash epidemic by keeping their peers safe on the road.
Project Ignition participants and more than 500 students and teachers from across the country and around the world will share ideas at the State Farm National Teen Driver Safety Summit, being held as part of the National Service-Learning Conference later this week, March 18-21.
Featured at the Summit will be ten schools judged to have the best projects. The top 10 high schools include:
-- Bergen County Technical High School - Paramus, N.J. -- Eureka High School - Eureka, Calif. -- Fleming County High School - Flemingsburg, Ky. -- Harry D. Jacobs High School - Algonquin, Ill. -- Medina Valley High School - Castroville, Texas -- New Castle Junior/Senior High School - New Castle, Penn. -- Owen Valley High School - Spencer, Ind. -- Payson High School - Payson, Ariz. -- Polk County High School - Benton, Tenn. -- Three Forks High School - Three Forks, Mont.
State Farm and the NYLC on Friday, March 20, will choose the "Best of the Best" from among these top 10. The winning school will be awarded a $10,000 grant to continue its safe driving efforts.
