TOPEKA, Kan. March 9, 2009: WC Vision has announced the official names of four SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge events on the 2009 calendar following sponsorship agreements with Toyo Tires, Applied Computer Solutions, Lala Motorsports and The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.
The 2009 World Challenge Championships begin in just over a week with the Toyo Tires Season Opener at Sebring International Raceway, March 18 - 20. Toyo Tires has been the Official Tire of World Challenge since 2001.
“We are happy to put our name on the 2009 World Challenge season opener,” Toyo Tires Manager of Events and Motorsports Stan Chen said. “World Challenge always provides some of the closest racing of the year and our premium competition tire, the Toyo Proxes R888, adds to that exciting, high speed performance."
Applied Computer Solutions, of Huntington Beach, Calif., will once again sponsor the World Challenge GT race at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. The infrastructure technology company founded by World Challenge GT competitor Mike Davis and his wife Sandy will be joined in 2009 by presenting sponsor Lala Motorsports, owned by 2008 World Challenge GT Rookie of the Year Gunter Schaldach. The ACS SCCA SPEED World Challenge at Long Beach Presented by Lala Motorsports will take place April 17 – 18.
“Long Beach is always one of our favorite races of the year, because we’re right at home,” Davis said. “It was an incredible experience last year to have my son Brandon win in front of our family, friends and co-workers. I fully expect another successful weekend in Long Beach this year.”
Lala Motorsports will also be the presenting sponsor for Round Five at Watkins Glen International, where Toyo Tires will again serve as the title sponsor. The Toyo Tires SCCA SPEED World Challenge at Watkins Glen Presented by Lala Motorsports is slated for July 3 – 5.
“The team really enjoyed its first season in World Challenge GT,” Schaldach said. “We’re happy to be back for another season and to be supporting the Long Beach and Watkins Glen weekends.”
ACS resumes its title sponsorship role for the final race of the season and will be joined by The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving as a presenting sponsor. Based in Phoenix, Ariz., Bondurant was recently named the Official Driving School of World Challenge. The ACS SCCA SPEED World Challenge Finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Presented by The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving will close the 2009 season on Oct. 9 – 11.
“We greatly appreciate the support from Toyo, ACS, Lala and Bondurant,” WC Vision VP of Marketing & Communications Davie Drimmie said. “World Challenge provides great value when it comes to sponsorship opportunities and it’s obvious our partners recognize that.”
