New Lebanon, NY: If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past 6 month’s, you would know what times we are faced with in this country. Lucky for us, it’s times like these that bring not only change, but opportunity!
That opportunity comes in the form of LV Spec Sportsman. A division that has been slowly gaining in popularity has finally been given an opportunity to flourish at one of the most coveted speedways in the Northeast!
“There’s cars out there that are just sitting and collecting dust because there is just no money to go big time Modified racing” said Lyle Devore, General Manager at the legendary Lebanon Valley Speedway. “We think this is the time where teams can scrape up a little here and a littler there and budget in a Spec or Budget motor in these cars, and come out and race with us for relatively little funding compared to the 358’s or Big Block Modified” Devore continued.
The High Banked Mecca of Speed located between Albany, NY and Pittsfield, MA on Route 20 in New Lebanon has been offering racing to the Capital Region race fans for 57 action packed seasons. And this season will be no different!
In connection with LVS and Accord Speedway, located in Accord NY, a 10 race LV Spec/Budget Sportsman Chase will crown an overall points champion between the two speedways with 5 held at Lebanon and 5 at Accord.
Note that the rules for both speedways are posted on their respective websites, or just go to www.LebanonValley.com, and click on “Speedway”, and follow the links for Budget Sportsman. Also visit out website for the 2009 schedule of events that feature the chase.
“There are a lot of teams that have been sitting idle, this gives everyone a change to get back out there and do what they love - to race” said Devore. Not only will the drivers benefit, but so will the fans and sponsors. “There even more opportunity to get their names out there for everyone to see. This class gives sponsors another opportunity to put themselves in front of the race fan on a much smaller budget. It’s a win-win for everyone, the fans, the teams, the drivers, and the sponsors.”
We encourage every team that is interested in the class to join us on “Warm Up” night, Saturday April 11th! Gates are set to open at 4pm, with cars hitting the track from approx. 6-8pm. Note that a gear rule will be put in place for the budget sportsman after the warm session.
