SYDNEY – March 10, 2009: Park & Fly, one of Sydney’s leading airport parking facilities has purchased a fleet of Volkswagen Caravelles to shuttle more than 4,000 customers each week.

The Caravelle represents the classic Volkswagen people mover. It has high-quality interior appointments and the superior equipment needed for transporting people in style.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Director, Mr Phil Clark, had no hesitation in recommending the Caravelle to Park & Fly for their on-demand airport shuttle.

“The Volkswagen Caravelle is the perfect vehicle to move a large number of people and their luggage efficiently and comfortably,” said Mr Clark.

“The Caravelle has a massive interior space and double sliding doors that offer greater flexibility in loading and unloading. It is also very economical.”

Two diesel engines are available in the Caravelle. The entry-level engine is a 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbo diesel engine delivering 96 kW (130 PS) of power and 340 Nm of torque. Its more powerful ‘brother’, which Park & Fly purchased, develops 128 kW (174 PS) and 400 Nm also from a 2.5 litre displacement. These turbocharged five-cylinder engines have impressive performance and are fitted with diesel particulate filters as standard.

Park & Fly opted for the eight seater short wheelbase model with 6 speed automatic tiptronic gearbox that has an economic fuel consumption of just 9.7 litres per 100 km.

The Caravelle is also available with a 6 speed manual or a long wheelbase that has flexible seating for up to nine people.

The short wheelbase 128 kW manual version comes with 4MOTION all-wheel-drive making it the ideal vehicle for most road and weather conditions.

In addition, electronic stabilisation program (ESP) is fitted as standard and integrated features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control system (TCS), electronic differential lock (EDL), and anti slip regulation (ASR) all meet the latest standards.
