Robby Gordon Atlanta Preview

Charlotte, NC March 6, 2009: After an impressive 15th-place run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend, the No. 7 Jim Beam team looks to build upon that momentum this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Jim Beam will once again serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 7 for Sunday’s 325-lap event.

Gordon made his first visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1997, which happened to be a memorable experience as he won his first and only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole. This race will mark his 17th appearance at the 1.54-mile track. Over the years, he has completed 98.9% of all laps entered and led 43 laps.

Gordon will sign autographs for his fans at his souvenir trailer on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Live television coverage of the event will begin at 1:30 p.m. EST on FOX on Sunday. PRN and SIRIUS Satellite Radio will provide live radio coverage of the event also beginning at 1:30 p.m. EST. Qualifying for Sunday’s event will be broadcast on SPEED on Friday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. EST.

LAS VEGAS – “After all the changes that we did to the No. 7 Jim Beam Toyota on Sunday morning, I couldn’t have been happier with our 15th-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Considering how competitive the Cup field is today, finishing 15th on the lead lap is a great accomplishment. We hope that the changes that we made on Sunday to the setup will transfer over to Atlanta this weekend.”

ATLANTA – “I am excited to go to Atlanta this weekend; Atlanta is one of my favorite race tracks maybe because it is one of the fastest intermediate tracks on the circuit. It is a track that you can run the different grooves throughout the race, which produces very exciting and competitive racing for the drivers and the fans. At the beginning of a run, you can run the bottom line. After about five laps or so, you can work your way up to the top line. Atlanta makes for great passing action as well. With the different grooves, you can pass a car if you are faster simply by changing your line. I think that the No. 7 Jim Beam Toyota team will have another great finish as well.”

SEASON SO FAR –”We got off to a rocky start at Daytona and California. It is a long season compared to most other professional sport teams, so we should be able to rebound and make a comeback. After our 15th-place finish last weekend, we think we will have a good weekend at Atlanta and continue our journey up the points ladder.”

UPCOMING OFF-WEEKEND: SAN FELIPE – “Rather than enjoying a weekend off, we are headed to San Felipe to race in the SCORE International Off-Road Series race. After winning the Laughlin Desert Challenge, we have decided to try to compete for the 2009 SCORE championship. I haven’t raced San Felipe in years, but we did test after Daytona. We ran the massive whoops from the start to about km-159. We feel that we have our shock absorbers in position to handle the bumps. I am also really excited about the new tire package that Toyo Tires has put together for us. If all goes according to plan, we should be able to pull off another good finish next weekend in San Felipe.”
