COLLEGE STATION, TX March 1, 2009) – The Texas World Speedway saw plenty of action this week as Team 3G Kester Racing held its first two-day test with the new 2009 team. The team’s drivers last season consisted of brother and sister J.C. and Kristy Kester, and this season will be adding two more experienced drivers from the 2008 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear to its family. The team’s new drivers include 19-year old Canadian, Taylor Hacquard, and 2008 Star Mazda Championship Expert Series Champion, Chris Cumming. In addition to new drivers, Team 3G Kester Racing has a new engineering staff, proving that this team is new, improved, and ready to compete in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship season.
“The week was great”, Taylor Hacquard says. “It was my first time driving on the Texas World Speedway track, so it was a great experience for me. After not being in a racecar for four months, I’m happy to say I got up to speed again really quickly. It was also the first time working with my new teammates and team members. We all worked really well together and made a lot of progress. I’m sure it’s going to be a great season. I can’t wait for Sebring.”
“We had a great two day test with the new team and did a lot of work on getting up to speed with the new car spec for this year”, says Chris Cumming. “I’m very happy about the quality of people on the team and I think we’re going to have a great year. I’m really looking forward to Sebring.”
"The test went really well”, says Kristy Kester. “Chris and Taylor fit right in with our team and had great feedback on the new updates for 2009. It was the first time we had everyone together and everything went really smoothly. I am especially excited for Sebring now."
“Testing was a big success”, says J.C. Kester. “It really was one of the best tests we have ever had. Between the four drivers and our new engineering staff, we really learned a lot of useful information to take to Sebring.”
Team owner Jeff Kester is also very enthusiastic about the coherence of the new team. “Testing went extremely well this week in Texas”, he says. “It was a pleasure working with Chris and Taylor, and I know they are both going to be very good for our team this season. We all cannot wait to get to Sebring for the first race.”
Team 3G Kester Racing will be on track at the first race of the Star Mazda Championship on March 20 at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida.
