SLOUGH, United Kingdom – February 26, 2009: The outstanding clean, green performance of the Citroën LCV range is highlighted with the launch of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ (SMMT) database of light commercial vehicle CO2 emissions. Citroën was the first LCV manufacturer to offer the ultra clean particulate filter on its vans. Today, Citroën LCVs have CO2 emissions from just 113g/km. And six of the seven ranges in Citroën’s comprehensive LCV line-up include models with emissions of less than 200g/km.
Robert Handyside, Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, comments, “Citroën fully supports the SMMT’s launch of the Van Buyers Guide to publicise LCV CO2 figures. The company has one of the UK’s most technically advanced, most comprehensive, most fuel efficient and lowest CO2 LCV ranges available. As part of its successful strategy of being a low CO2 vehicle manufacturer Citroën was one of the first to make LCV CO2 figures available. Citroën’s commitment to low emissions is reflected by its Airdream programme and independently recognised for its success by being named the current GreenFleet LCV Manufacturer of the Year.”
Citroën offers three sub 120g/km CO2 emission LCVs:
In addition, thanks to their state-of-the-art HDi diesel engine technology delivering fuel efficient, green performance, Citroën’s larger vans also provide exceptional low CO2 emissions:
Citroën has also taken other steps to reduce the carbon footprint of its LCV ranges. All Citroën HDi engined LCVs can run on up to 30% bio-diesel without any modification, which delivers a further reduction in CO2. And, Citroën, through its Ready to Run special vehicle programme, offers the UK’s widest range of dual fuel (petrol/LPG) vans. These Powershift certified conversions by Nicholson McLaren Engines deliver the benefits of London Congestion Charge exemption and CO2 emissions reductions of some 10 per cent.
Citroën’s Airdream LCV programme reflects the company’s pro-active approach to minimising the environmental impact of its award-winning LCV range. Customers can be assured that all Citroën LCVs carrying the Airdream logo meet the following demanding environmental criteria:
And in addition to the above, Airdream also means that the vehicles are:
Robert Handyside continues, “Citroën is a European leader in the manufacture of fuel efficient, low emissions LCVs. The company’s responsible – and award-winning commitment - to reduce the environmental impact of its vehicles is encapsulated by the Citroën Airdream LCV initiative.”
Citroën has pioneered the European introduction of LCVs with self-regenerating DPFS equipment. The company is also actively expanding its range of clean, efficient, Powershift, London Congestion Charge Zone-exempt, Dual Fuel (petrol/LPG) vans. Citroën is also the only LCV manufacturer to offer, as standard, Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation with Dynamic Traffic Management, which has major fuel economy, emissions, cost and efficiency benefits.
