Menard on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
"I’m ready to get back to the track this weekend in Las Vegas. We haven’t gotten our season off to the start that we would have liked and we are a bit behind the eight ball which means this weekend, we just need to go out there and get some points. We were wrecked in Daytona and then last weekend, we had something go wrong with the transmission which put us down a number of laps. This weekend we have a great car and we are going to a track that I enjoy racing at.
“If we can avoid the wrecks and not have anything happen to us, it should be a great weekend for the No. 98 team. I know Larry (Carter) and all the guys are ready to get back out there.”
Crew Chief Larry Carter on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“After they reconfigured the Vegas track a couple of years ago, it has really made the track a very technical track to get around. The car enters the corner at such a high speed due to the new banking the track has installed. It’s a fun track to set up the car for and I think going into this weekend we have a pretty good car. The engineering support we have at Yates Racing really gives us a head start when we unload the car on Friday. The guys on pit road have done a great job so far this season and if we can just avoid any trouble and have a little bit of luck on our side, it should be a good weekend for the No. 98 Menards team.”
Kvapil on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Las Vegas. Ever since they reconfigured the track, I’ve really liked going out there. I won a truck race there a few years back and had a pretty good run last year there. We had a top-10 car under us last weekend and if we hadn’t gone down a lap early in the race, I think we would have had a top-10 finish. Ben (Leslie) and all the guys on the No. 28 car did a great job last weekend overcoming qualifying and getting our car really good for the race.
“Yates Racing has a solid intermediate program and I know we should have a good run there this weekend. It’s the Shelby 427 this weekend and on Thursday, I’m going out to Nellis Air Force Base to race an F-16 in a Ford Mustang. It should be a pretty exciting deal out there on Thursday.”
Crew chief Ben Leslie on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“We have a great car for this weekend’s race in Las Vegas. This is a track that really suits Travis and track that has been really good to Ford Racing since it was reconfigured. We had a good car last week but got caught a lap down there in the middle of the race, otherwise it would have been a lot better run for us. Hopefully, this weekend, Travis can go out there and post another top-10 finish like last season.”
