Las Vegas, February 25, 2009: Did you ever want to see an actual race car up close? Have you ever wanted to the opportunity to meet an actual NASCAR driver? If so, Monte Carlo Las Vegas Resort and Casino is offering the opportunity for you to do both during Race Week 2009.
Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, the preferred Las Vegas destination partner for JTG Daugherty Racing, will host a driver autograph session on Friday February 27th at the Monte Carlo Brew Pub. JTG Daugherty drivers, Marcos Ambrose, driver of the #47 Kingsford Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Michael McDowell, driver of the #47 Tom’s/Kingsford Toyota Camry in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series will be on hand from 7:30-8:30 pm. Also, parked out front of the hotel, fans will see the #47 Toyota Camry driven by Marcos Ambrose.
Ambrose commented, “We are looking forward to heading to Vegas this weekend. First of all, we are extremely pleased to be sitting solidly in the top 25 in points after the first two races of the season. Secondly, we have a great partner in Monte Carlo Resort and Casino that is working hard to help our team and give something back to the fans. It promises to be an entertaining weekend at the track and at Monte Carlo.”
Ambrose added, “On the track, I am excited to show what we’ve got in Las Vegas. I raced the No. 59 Kingsford car at Las Vegas in the Nationwide Series in 2008 and 2007”. “I think Las Vegas will be a really good track for us. It’s a fun mile-and-a-half track with good banking. I just love the place. I like the resurfacing, the feel and the grip. How we run will be a real reflection on how things are going to go for us during the year. We’ve got to stay up in the points and maintain a top-35 spot.”
Ambrose has two NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but has not raced a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry at the 1.5-mile tri-oval. His best finish was 10th in 2007.
McDowell, currently 20th in points in the Nationwide Series will drive in his first event at the track for JTG Daugherty Racing. He is looking for lady luck to be on his side this week after a fiery end to the race in Fontana last weekend, which ruined a third place starting effort. McDowell commented, “We’re hoping that Monte Carlo is going to bring us a lot more luck than we had in California. We’re looking forward to meeting the fans and enjoying our time in Vegas.”
For all race fans Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino has also put together a spectacular Shelby 427 Sprint Cup Race package. Visit www.montecarlo.com for details about their great rates and accommodations.
