ATX to Seek Local Partners to Expand European Telematics

Global Strategy to Partner with Local Providers Designed to Create Greater Synergies

DUSSELDORF, Germany, Feb. 24 -- ATX Group, one of the leading providers of customized telematics services to the global automotive industry, announced today it plans to serve the European market in the near future through agreements with third-party providers.

ATX is currently pursuing telematics business in the Asian and South American markets through similar agreements with local providers of call center services and technical operations across those regions.

"Our recent experience in other markets we've entered demonstrates that the strongest business model is one that combines our expertise with providers who are already established in the local market with services," said Steve Millstein, ATX president. "Even in the U.S. - our primary marketplace - we have partnered with Cross County Automotive Services through an acquisition in order to combine our telematics expertise with their established services in roadside assistance and auto insurance claims management."

ATX owns and operates a telematics response center here that provides services directly to drivers in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. ATX contracts with other providers to serve drivers in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. The company has long stated a desire to provide eCall and other connected vehicle services across the European Union.

ATX entered the European market in 2003 through its acquisition of PASSO, a unit of Mannesman/Vodafone. Significant achievements of ATX's European business unit include the development of a unique Web interface with emergency dispatch centers that adds data to information verbally provided by ATX response specialists in Dusseldorf. ATX Europe was also involved in the earliest developments of delivering Web-based content into the vehicle.
