Hella Acquires Remaining Shares of Its Relay Joint Venture in China

PLYMOUTH, Mich.--Hella Hongfa (Xiamen) Automotive Electronics Co. Ltd. (HAE) of China has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a tier-one supplier of automotive lighting and electronic equipment.

Hella recently acquired the 30 percent share held in HAE by former joint-venture partner Xiamen Hongfa Electroacoustic Co. Ltd. HAE was established in 2003 to develop and produce automotive relays.

“The acquisition of these remaining shares is an important step in further improving Hella’s relay business and ensures a successful future for HAE,” said Dr. Martin Fischer, president of Hella Electronics Corporation and Hella Corporate Center USA, both based in Plymouth, Michigan.

Located in Xiamen, China, HAE employs 220 and generates more than $18 million in sales annually.

Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. develops and manufactures lighting and electronics components and systems for the automotive industry. Its joint venture companies also produce complete vehicle modules and air conditioning systems.

In addition, Hella has one of the largest aftermarket organizations in the world for automotive parts and accessories, with its own sales companies and partners in more than 100 countries. The consolidated annual turnover of the Hella Group is about $5.7 billion.
