Fontana, February 20, 2009: No. 7 Jim Beam Toyota driver and California native Robby Gordon is excited to be racing in his home state this weekend for the Auto Club 500. Sunday’s race will mark Gordon’s 14th appearance at the two-mile D-shaped oval in the Sprint Cup Series recording one top-10 finish and four top-20 finishes. In 3 starts, he has completed 94.1% of all laps attempted and has led 11.
Gordon showed his appreciation to firefighters when he made a pit stop at the Firehouse World Expo convention in San Diego earlier today. His appearance coincides with Jim Beam’s efforts to help raise awareness for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, an organization dedicated to assist firefighters and their families across America. Founded shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established in memory of Terry Farrell, a decorated member of Rescue 4/FDNY and Chief of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department. Farrell, along with 342 of his brothers, perished in the World Trade Center attack.
In addition to his appearance in San Diego, Gordon will be appearing at the Costco located at 16505 Sierra Lakes Parkway, Fontana, CA 92336 on Friday at 7:00 pm and his souvenir trailer on Sunday morning at 10:45 am.
