SHOREHAM-BY-SEA, United Kingdom – February 20, 2009: Following discussions with exhibitors and partners, the management team of Drive ’09 have decided to postpone the Drive ’09 exhibition from March 2009 until 26 -27th September 2009.
The economic downturn has created a difficult environment for vehicle manufacturers. However, more than 40 exhibitors had signed-up to take part in the March event.
After consulting key members of the industry, and its experienced steering panel, the directors came to the conclusion that it was in the best interests of the exhibitors and the overall success of the show to postpone until later in the year.
Along with this, the Drive ’09 team decided to streamline the event, to ensure it is as focused and cost-effective as possible for all involved.
The postponed event will concentrate on the inspirational Drive Experience around the Transport Research Laboratory’s excellent driver defence track, supported by a concise and streamlined exhibition and seminar programme.
Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar are just some of the many manufacturers that have already signed up for the rescheduled September date.
Simon Tozer, Drive ’09 Event Director comments:
“Many other shows in this sector have cancelled completely for 2009. However, we’ve had a very good response to the event and following the success of last year’s show, we realised that by moving the event to the late summer and simplifying the format, we can deliver better value for our exhibitors and larger numbers of attendees.”
Adrian Freeman of Mercedes-Benz (UK) comments:
”With the new E-Class we have a world-leading chauffeuring car, which we look forward to showcasing at the September show. We are very pleased with the new dates and the exciting Drive Experience format. With reduced costs this makes the event a good investment in these challenging times. The organisers have clearly listened to the issues facing the industry and responded accordingly.”
