The Spanish Model Receives Two New Awards -The Seat Ibiza, Singled Out In Poland And Portugal
MARTORELL, Spain – February 18, 2009: The new SEAT Ibiza received two new awards, one in Poland and the other in Portugal, that add to the long list of prizes given to the Spanish model since its launch in mid 2008. The readers of Auto Bild in Poland gave SEAT’s car the prestigious “Auto 1” award, while in the neighbouring country the Ibiza was chosen “Small Car of the Year” by the members of the “Car of the Year – Crystal Steering Wheel Trophy” jury.
Once again, the excellent qualities featured on the Spanish car were favourably evaluated by the more than 20,000 readers of Poland’s Auto Bild magazine who voted for the Ibiza through SMS messages, making it the winner out of more than 40 models competing for this year’s distinction.
The readers cast their votes for the best car in a total of eight categories, followed by the car that should deserve the top “Auto 1” award, which finally went to SEAT’s popular model.
“Small Car of the Year” in Portugal
The new SEAT
Ibiza also received the “Small Car of the Year” distinction in
Portugal. The winning version, equipped with a 1.4 TDI engine and Style
trim level, excelled over its rivals, which included the Ford Fiesta,
Hyundai i10, Suzuki Splash and Opel Agila.
This award reflects the enormous popularity of the new Ibiza in Portugal, and it was also one of the cars chosen by the jury members to compete for the “Car of the Year” title. This is the first time the Ibiza has won the “Small Car of the Year” award in Portugal. On this occasion, the award comes at a very special time for the Ibiza, as it is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its presentation at the Paris Motor Show in 1984.
These prizes demonstrate once again the new Ibiza’s excellent quality, design and sportiness, which make it a benchmark in its segment.
