Pilot Freight Services Shows Continued Growth Throughout 2008

LIMA, Pa.--Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, today announced shipment figures and record revenue for the year ending Dec. 31, 2008. The company reported revenue for the year of $372.9 million, up 9.7 percent from 2007.

Pilot saw the largest increases in its international and government sales, up 13 percent and 30 percent respectively from 2007. International sales growth was due in part to securing several major ocean import and export customers, including US Motorworks and Hallmark, as well as an investment in training of sales executives. Government sales saw a major increase thanks to strong exports to the Middle East and growth of Pilot’s program with the U.S. Navy. Overall, Pilot’s international network handled over 666,000 shipments over the year, totaling more than 469 million pounds of freight.
