Fontana, February 16, 2009: On racing at Auto Club Speedway:
"I feel really good going to California on the Sprint Cup side. It’s the one I’ve been waiting for. Daytona is what it is, but California’s the first one that we get to see how well we worked over the winter. I just really like the track a lot. I think, of all the tracks, I have my best averages at that track.
“The Auto Club Speedway challenges every part of your crew and every part of your team. You have to have a great aerodynamic package. You have to have a great engine. Your pit crew has to be on it. And for the driver it’s a pretty big finesse racetrack, so you get to see how strong the team is by how they run there. We ran well there last year, so hopefully we’ll be able to do the same again this week.”
Crew chief Bob Osborne on racing at Auto Club Speedway: “I can’t put my finger on exactly why we typically run well at Fontana. Obviously we have a great driver; we have great equipment and great engines and each play a huge role in our success there. But, as far as there being one-single thing that sets us apart from other teams at California, I don’t think so. I think we’ve been able to address the different challenges that we’ve been presented and overcome them.”
