TOPEKA, Kan. February 13, 2009: The Sports Car Club of America has released a revised 2009 Tire Rack ProSolo Series schedule, with the Alameda ProSolo being replaced by the Wendover ProSolo.
After it was learned that the Alameda military airbase, near San Francisco, would not be approved by the local government as a Solo site, quick action was taken to move the event to Wendover Airport, on the Utah-Nevada border. The Wendover ProSolo will be hosted by the Utah Region, with help from the Eastern Idaho and Northwest Regions, and is scheduled for April 24 – 26.
“It’s unfortunate that we will be unable to make the trip to Alameda this year,” SCCA Vice President of Rally, Solo and Special Programs Howard Duncan said. “But it’s great to see a swift and collective effort made to find a replacement that I think all of our participants will enjoy.”
Wendover has been home to numerous Solo events over the past 20 years. The airport, which was the staging area for the Enola Gay mission in World War II, is a popular site for Soloists because of the concrete surface.
