Daytona Beach, Fla. February 11, 2009: Robby Gordon and his No. 7 Jim Beam Toyota will start 20th in Thursday’s first 150-mile qualifying race. The finishing order will determine the starting line-up for the Daytona 500 grid. Since the No. 7 team finished the 2008 season in the top-35 in owners points, they are guaranteed a starting spot in Sunday’s 51st annual Daytona 500.
Thoughts on Daytona: “We have put together one of the best restrictor-plate programs in the Cup garage. Last year, our worst finish in a plate race was 11th, and we finished second in restrictor-plate points. I have learned a lot over the years, and this race is about survival and going hard only when it counts. After observing Saturday’s Shootout race, we are confident that we have put together a good package for Sunday’s race,” commented the driver of the No. 7 Jim Beam Toyota.
Thoughts on Toyota: “We are looking forward to running our Toyota this year. It is the first time in ten years that I have been behind the wheel of one, and I can’t tell you how happy our team is a part of the Toyota family,” stated Gordon.
