Daytona Preview Wimmer - February 10, 2009

FIRST TIME EVER – In its 18-year history, Key Motorsports has made 41 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts, but this is the team's first full-time season in the series since the its inception in 1991. The team has rechristened their NNS entry as the No. 40, to match their primary entry in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. They will also be debuting their new black, white, and red paint scheme, which also matches their Chevrolet Silverado in the Truck Series.

NEW FACE BEHIND THE WHEEL – It was announced last week that Scott Wimmer would pilot the Key Motorsports No. 40 Chevrolet for at least the first 3 races of 2009. This is the first time Wimmer has driven for the team in his 8-year career. Wimmer has experienced tremendous success in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, garnering 6 wins, 29 top-5's, 68 top-10's, and he was also one of the drivers who earned Richard Childress an owner's championship in 2007.

FEELS LIKE HOME – In preparation for the 2009 season, Key Motorsports purchased a fleet of NASCAR Nationwide Series cars from Richard Childress Racing, including several raced by Wimmer in previous seasons. Chassis #030, the team's primary car for the season-opening Camping World 300 at Daytona, was driven to a 9th place finish by Wimmer at Talladega last April.

NEW MAN IN CHARGE – Calling the shots on the pit box and at in the shop for 2009 is experienced Crew Chief Tommy Morgan, who served as the team's competition director from 2007-2008. In his career as a NASCAR Crew Chief, Morgan has guided several teams to an impressive total of 13 victories, 52 top-5's, and 77 top-10 finishes in just 140 starts.

ON KEY MOTORSPORTS – "I'm really excited to be driving for Key Motorsports. It's going to be a new adventure coming down here and I'm really looking forward to that. I know Curtis is working real hard on getting sponsorship over here and getting the right people and the right dollars in place so he can do this full time. Hopefully I can give him a good start at that and then hopefully come back and run some more for him."

ON DAYTONA – "I think we can go down to Daytona and make the race. The main thing at Daytona is staying out of trouble, and I think if we can do that we'll have a great race down there. I think we can be a real shock for Daytona and the rest of the races we're going to run with Key Motorsports."

ON DRIVING RACECARS FROM HIS FORMER TEAM – "I spent my last 2 years at RCR, and Curtis actually went and bought the speedway car that I ran well with last year. It feels good because it's just comfortable. It's the same seat and the same car, and whenever you can do that it makes you feel comfortable as a driver because you're not looking at anything that you're not sure about."
