Video Game Publisher Will Partner On the Cars of Aric Almirola and Martin Truex Jr. for Multiple Races
CONCORD, N.C. February 6, 2009: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced today a partnership with Activision Publishing, Inc., the publisher of the top-selling Guitar HeroŽ video game franchise, for a multi-race deal that will include primary sponsorship of multiple races with Aric Almirola and his No. 8 Chevrolet, and multiple races with Martin Truex Jr. and his No. 1 Chevrolet.
In the 2009 Daytona 500, the first race to feature a Guitar Hero branded car, the No. 8 will race around the track with a paint scheme of Activision’s latest #1 music-based video game - Guitar HeroŽ World Tour. The orange and black car will sport the familiar Guitar Hero World Tour logo and the same graphics as the game’s packaging. Subsequent races will feature the No. 8 or the No. 1 cars branded with upcoming Guitar Hero titles.

GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR: Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless controllers with new revolutionary online* and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a slick newly redesigned guitar controller, drum kit controller and a wired microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock 'n' roll anthems. Music creators are also able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunesSM where other gamers can download and play an endless supply of unique creations.
DAYTONA DEBUTE: Aric Almirola, will make his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Daytona International Speedway in the No. 8 Guitar Hero World Tour Chevrolet. Almirola will take the reigns of the No. 8 Chevrolet full-time in 2009 after sharing the ride in 2008 and finishing the season in 14th place in the standings. The 24-year-old native of Tampa, Florida competed in 12 NSCS events in 2008, collecting one top-10 finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. In his only two NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at Daytona during the 2007 season Almirola recorded a very impressive pole position for the season opener and started third in the mid-summer classic.
TRUEX BEHIND THE WHEEL: Truex has a total of 117 starts in the NSCS, with one win, 12 top-five finishes, 31 top-10 results and one pole. The Mayetta, NJ native made his mark in the NSCS in 2007 after claiming his first pole, seven top-five finishes, 14 top-10s and his first career victory at Dover International Speedway. The win catapulted Truex and his team into the Chase for the Championship , where they finished 11th in points. He is a two-time winner of the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship in 2004 and 2005.
