Hopes Are High For BCR Racing At Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida February 3, 2009: Perhaps BCR Racing hasn’t been picked as a pre-race favorite for Saturday’s Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona but there’s a good bet that the team fits into the category as a sleeper as 43 drivers will take the green flag for the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series opener Saturday.

J.R. Heffner, the new driver from BCR Racing returns to Daytona International Speedway looking for his first career top-10 but also looking to back-up his team’s pre-season success. Last December, Heffner guided by crew chief Howard Bixman quietly found themselves in the top-10 throughout the three-day test giving the newly formed ARCA team high hopes for ARCA’s biggest race of the year.

“I’m looking forward to Daytona,” said Heffner who looks to make his third start at the “World Center of Racing” this weekend. “The test was very satisfying to say the least. We worked hard throughout the three days to make our car competitive in and out of the draft. When we left we knew we had some work to do, but we’re coming back this week primed and ready for battle.”

Hoisting a 16th place finish as a career-best at Daytona International Speedway last year, Heffner is hoping for a little better run this time around but knows that the competition will remain fierce but hoping that his experience in the draft will the solution to conquering a top-10 finish.

“Having help in the draft is crucial for a good finish,” remarked Heffner, a 2008 Modified Champion. I’m sure that I wasn’t everyone’s first pick to draft with in the past, however I think I’ve proven myself as a strong and confident drafter and I hope it can be an advantage for our BCR Racing team this weekend.”

Heffner, who’s shifted his concentration from dirt to asphalt this season speaks fluently on how his communication with crew chief Howard Bixman has given him a new meaning of hope in stock car competition.

“I enjoy working with my crew chief,” Heffner stated. “We work together to make the car better and that’s what teamwork is about. He is a great leader for the team and I think with his direction, this team will be found near the front a lot.”
